Actually, my vet thinks they should be vaccinated. However, I know of other vets that say ferrets shouldn't be vaccinated if they are ADV+. And while the information you have on ADV is very on target - that is that it is the non-neutralizing antibodies that cause most of the damage associated with ADV to the infected ferret's organs, I would not think that antibodies from a vaccination would contribute that much. Having had the chance to observe first hand exactly what ADV does, and how it affects the blood's protein levels, it is very different from what a vaccination does.
I was just wondering what some of the vets on this list felt about this, and their reasons. I know Dr. Murray has first hand experience with ADV patients, and the Dr. Williams has looked at tissue samples from some of my ferrets and from others with ADV+s.
