Hi, I have one of the Utah rescue ferrets. Jack is a big 3.7 lb. albino, =
about 4-5yrs old. He was diagnosed Wednesday 3/19 with viral pneumonia. On t=
he =
x-ray, only a very small portion of each lung was clear, heart appeared =
normal size. On auscultation, at first the vet did not think it was serious=
. =
Jack had been to the vet a month earlier with clear nasal discharge and run=
ny =
eyes, diagnosed with a cold and put on cipro and chlortrimeton. Last weekend=
=
we noticed his respirations a little fast, from 40 to 60,so we went back. =
Jack is now on Chlorampehicol 80 mg bid, Lasix 2.5 mg ,Chlortrimeton 1/4 pi=
ll =
bid and theophylline syrup, .5 ml bid=A0 and cool vaporizer. After being on=
=
these meds since Wednesday, he still has respirations going from 40-70 whil=
e =
resting. He is eating, will walk around a while, especially if taken to off=
=
limit rooms of the house. The vet is going to do a ultrasound tomorrow to =
check for hypertropic cardiomyopathy and re check his ADV status( Was =
negative Nov. 02)
Any other suggestions?
Thanks Debbie
