I'm not a vet, but I do have some recent experience in this area... ;-)

I would say to give your vet some literature about helicobacter
infection and treatment, and request a run of antibiotics in addition
to the ulcer meds you already have... if it is bacterial, you should
see a definite improvement in his condition and willingness to eat
within the first week or two of treatment. If not, I don't think the
antibiotics would hurt the situation.

But if it is bacterial, I have become a very firm believer that you
want to get it knocked down as quickly and thoroughly as possible. I
think the biggest problem Zan had was the repeated recurrences of the
ulcers after his first two (short) antibiotic runs. By the time I
could get a four week prescription, I think his system was just too
stressed to keep fighting.

Here is a good link to print out from Dr. Williams' site:
http://www.afip.org/ferrets/ulcers.html Maybe you could give a print
out of that page to your vet? With the antibiotic recommendations
highlighted?
