Hello All: (X's put in by author since using "he" got
really confusing)

Dr. X did Odo's surgery today. Odo does not have
adrenal cancer since his adrenal glands have atrophied
(that is not to say that he would have had cancer had
they not). Dr. X thinks it might have been from the
prednisonne, he's been on pred for at least 3 months
that I can remember. I thought it had only been a
month, but I realise it's been longer. I need to look
it up. Odo does have tons of knodules in his pancreas
and Dr. X could not remove enough to make it worth it.
So Odo definatly has insulinoma. Dr. X mentioned
chromium and brewer's yeast, but we didn't talk about
it any more than that. He did clean his teeth and he
was really surprised that he didn't have to extract
more than one since this was the first time that his
teeth have been cleaned and Odo is 8. He said that
Odo should be happier to eat his TF and his gum
infection and nausea should go away. Dr. X didn't
seem happy with chicken gravy as a diet, as much as
he'd rather see just Totally Ferret.

The bad news is that Dr. X does not know what is
causing Odo's peeing issue (that he doesn't want to
pee unless he really has to and he seems long periods
of time before he does, then whines when he does. We
had thought that his adrenal gland was pushing on his
prostate but that is not the case), and he found at
least two different kinds of lesions in Odo's liver.
Dr. X sent both sets of lesions to be tested to see
what they were.

Do the vets and other ferret folks have ideas on this?
I know there was a thought that brewers yeast and
chromium were not useful for regulating blood sugar
but then it was useful again. What about other ideas
on the straining to pee, after holding it for a long
time?

thank you

Becki Kain
