Subject: Enlarged spleen in geriatric ferret

Hi, everyone,

Kodo is an (estimated) eight and a half year old neutered male ferret. His only known
health problem prior to now is insulinoma. He had surgery in August of last year, and
symptoms returned around December. He is doing well on a very moderate dosage of
pediapred (.15ml mornings, .10ml evenings) and had a blood glucose of 87 this
morning.

I felt what seemed like a large hard mass so Kodo went to the vet this morning. It's his
spleen, which is enlarged. I know this is common, but none of my weasels has ever had
it. Our vet plans on taking x-rays to see if there are any tumors on the spleen. If not
then he's not planning on treating Kodo for it. Kodo seems to feel fine, and is
moderately active, playful, and very affectionate.

My question: is there anything else that should be considered? Is there anything at all
that needs to be done?

Thanks,
Caity and the non-stop nine
