Have you considered alternative meds or additional meds? I don't know if Diazoxide can be given with Dex. Certainly it can be with Prednisolone or Prednisone and many ferrets tolerate high doses of the Preds very well.
When medical options are exhausted then dietary sugar can also be added. We've had one get extra good months with that trick.
