I'm really not doing a good job of expressing myself on this.

Some ferrets retain enough adrenal tissue after a bilateral adrenal removal to not need additional meds. Some of these may need meds temporarily and then get off them. Some may never need meds.

Some have very clean removal of the adrenals and don't have enough tissue. These ferrets will always need to have those medications and that is fine; they thrive on them. In such situations there is no reason to try to remove the medications and excellent reasons not to try.

When a bilateral adrenal surgery is done it pays to have the meds on hand in case they are needed or to give the meds for at least a while with the call being the vets because the vets know sometimes how much adrenal tissue couldn't be removed.

Hopefully, that is more clear as to what I am saying.
