Your new vet should be well aware of how to treat anaphylaxis. It is not something that is peculiar to ferrets. Epinephrine is one of the drugs used for these reactions.
I believe that the most important thing is to make sure your new vet is aware of the fact that ferrets can react severly to their vaccinations.
As for books... I don't know if you meant these for yourself or your vet. Here' my opinions, for what it is worth:
Fox's "Biology and Disease of the Ferret" is good and highly technical. I turn to this one last because it is usually WAAAAYYYY over my head. It would be good for a vet.
My preference is "Ferrets, Rabbits and Rodents - Clinical Medicine and Surgery" by Hillyer, et al. This is a much easier read and has lots of good info. I believe a new edition is in the works, and our favorite doctor, Dr. Williams, is writing one of the chapters. I have no idea if its release is due in the near or distant future.
Another great one is Dr. Purcell's "Essentials of Ferrets - A Guide for Practitioners." This one is probably a little more up to date than the Hillyer book.

> Hi there. I am trying a new vet this year for my ferret's vaccinations. I'm not sure how informed he is about vaccine reactions. My ferret has never had a reaction, but I was wondering if someone could tell me what medicines are used for reactions. I'll pass on the info to the vet. Also, what books would you recommend for good ferret info? I'm interested in books that are more technical. Thanks.
