Well, I can't personally verify it. :) And I'm not a scientist by any
stretch, so I'm not terribly well-suited for judging things like this.
However, I did find the melting point figure of 300 degrees C in at least
two sources. I was at work (library) earlier and don't have the most
authoritative one here with me now that I'm at home. However, here is a
web source for an MSDS on taurine that gives the same number:

I used an java temp converter on the web to convert 300 C to 572 F:

Again, though, I am decidedly a NON-authority on chemistry and such.
