Several days ago I noticed Maggie's (E.G. diagnosed via biopsy in 2002 at 3
y/o) poopies were looser. Over night she had developed terrible diarrhea and
was grinding her teeth. I gave her Pepcid and she went to sleep. This
morning I have given her baby turkey mixed with a lot of water since I'm
concerned she's dehydrated. She drank it right up and her next poop seemed
better.
I'd recently read that L-glutamine (an amino acid) can help repair intestinal
villi in dogs. Now I KNOW she's not a dog but was wondering if it could help
her. They also suggested a healing tea/broth that had marshmallow root and
meadowsweet leaves for dogs with IBD. I've used slippery elm for a long time
in her soup and it's kept the diarrhea pretty much controlled.
Maggie's diet is turkey gravy (no bones, no eggshells) fed by hand twice a
day. She has z/d out all the time but she doesn't eat it.
We have a checkup appointment on the 19th but I wanted some opinions.
Thanks!
