Howdy. From everything I have read and discussed with my vets (I work at a=
vet's office, and we see lots of ferrets, and one of mine JUST had a parti=
al pancreatectomy for insulinoma), you should really do it as soon as possi=
ble for the best prognosis, if the circumstances and ferret's health allow.=
Medical maintenance with drugs such as prednisone can help, and often nee=
d to be reinstituted after surgery, but I have gotten the impression that s=
urgery is the best first option, and as soon as you can, if your ferret is =
up to it.
I'm not a vet, and this is just my opinion based on my readings and what my=
vets have discussed with me.
Good luck!
