Hi all, I have been reading posts on anemia, and thought I'd post
about Teddy. He had adrenal surgery in November and was found to have
anemia. Since then ,he has had 4 blood transfusions as his body is still
not making red cells. The transfusion benefits last from 1 month to 5
weeks. When he gets near the end of the time,he exhibits lots of nausea,
weakness, and this last month, labored breathing. Within a few hours
after the transfusion, he is up ,eating, acting like a new ferret. It is
amazing.
We are starting him on Procrit today, and I pray it will help. But, just
wanted to put a plug in for transfusions as very helpful. I know he
would have long been dead w'o them.

Regards,
Carol
