Since the topic of longeveity has come up, was just wondering if anyone had
a black nosed ferret live a long life? I have had 3 black nosed ferrets in
the past 18years and they all died between 4 and 5 years old. One was a
Marshall Farms the other two were from private breeders. I know this is a
small sample size, but was just curious.

Julie,

I've raised ferrets for almost 30 years. Most of my black nose ferrets
were, sterling silvermitts. Both male and female. With the exception of
one who died of cancer, all the others lived to 10 plus years.

All were bred by me. Hope this is the start of anecdotal evidence for
longevity. Maybe "Breeders", should consider breeding for longevity and
temperament.
