It depends on the surgery. If my vet opens the abdomen or thorax up then they get antibiotics.Or any other major surgery. And if there is an infection at time of surgery (eg puss filled cyst) then they will get multiple antibiotics to cover both arobic and anarobic organisms. If it's minor surgery, like the removal of a mast cell tumor, then not. Go by what your vet suggests.
