Fur changes can be seasonal, diet related, but if this is a new finding,
I would
think about adrenal disease. Limited experience, but the only
ferret I had with rough fur I got him that way, didn't think about it,
later saw some signs of adrenal disease, had surgery and the next
season he had nice soft fur. You know if you e-mail a ferret health
list we will give you something to worry about :)

Oh, some people have noted an odor change too, like you sniff the
tails of all the ferrets and the one with a kind of burnt urine smell
is adrenal? Others may smell like fritos, or grape jelly?
I know someone on this list knows what I am talking about,
not very scientific, and probably if you find these things, something
to just keep an eye on.
