Hi, I'm new to this group, but am desperate to find some info about what mi=
ghtbe wrong with my little guy.He is one and a half years old, healthy and =
active. The other day I noticed arather large (less than 1/2 an inch but la=
rger than 1/4 of an inch) scab onhis back. I went to clean it off and put s=
ome triple antibiotic plus ointmenton it, and noticed one smaller spot on t=
he right of it. Later that evening Iwent to do the same procedure again and=
noticed there seemed to be more smallspots in the area. They are all about=
the size of a pin head with aclear/yellowish puss scab on top. He has been=
inching more than usual so Igave him a bath. This obviously rinsed away th=
e scabs, revealing the smallpink bumps that lay under them. I called the ve=
t and they were unable to seehim. So I called my other vet (who i don't not=
think does a very good jobinvestigating cases such as this) He told me he =
probably got into some thingand scratched his back on something. He gave me=
a topical steroid calledTresaderm. I have been applying that for a day and=
a half with no improvement. To see pictures go to:
http://filebox.vt.edu/users/elcross
There you will find three pictures. Two of the larger one on his back and o=
nof the one on his ear. Some of the others are so close to his skin color o=
r sosmall they don=92t photograph well. I have only been applying the Tresa=
derm tohis back at this point.
The only helpful facts I can give are that the two days before I noticed th=
elargest one I had taken him to the pet store where he played with one 6 we=
ekold kit, and an older male probably a couple years old. Obviously the old=
ermale has had all of his shots but I=92m not sure about the little girl. S=
econdlyabout 3 hours before I noticed the large one, he had gotten outside =
for a maxof an hour. That=92s what lead me to believe it was just a scratch=
of some sortfrom something he got into. But now, I have begun to notice the=
m, on his belly near his genital area, behind his ears, and a few other rand=
om spots throughout his body.
PLEASE let me know anything that might help. I'm worried! I plan to take hi=
mto the vet I like on Monday. But would love to have some ideas of what itm=
ight be to bounce off of him.
Thanks.
