Lenny had surgery on Feb 19h to confirm IBD. He was in sad state being just=
under 2lbs. The biopsies were done and much to everyones surprise a right =
adrenal tumor was found and completely removed as well. It took him some t=
ime to regain his weight and strength but all seemed well. The day before h=
is three week check up he dry heaved, as if he were going to vomit but didn=
't. He did this for a few seconds, he went to the bathroom, his stool was f=
ine and then so was he. The vet, not his regular vet, didn't think this wa=
s a problem and said he looked pretty good. She thought it could be the IBD=
. Exactly one week later the same thing happened. Off to the vets again to =
see our regular vet and she found a lump about the size of a quarter around=
his intestines. Not what we wanted to hear. X-rays showed nothing conclusi=
on. She was concerned that something had developed so quickly. She suggeste=
d we start him on pred .75c 2x's a day and rescheduled a checkup for 2 days=
. As soon as he started the pred he was back to his old self. Eating, playi=
ng and happy as ever. 2 days later, our vet said the lump seemed smaller. 2=
days after that she said it was still there not any bigger & not any small=
er. Lenny was doing so well that we scheduled a recheck for 5 weeks or soo=
ner if his condition changes. In the 5 weeks he has never been happier, lik=
e a kit again, he just turned 5 years old. That leads me to now. He is a h=
ealthy 1164 grams and happy as ever but the lump is still there. My vet be=
lieves is could be a tumor on his intestines, the worse case scenario, scar=
tissue or a stomach lymphnode. The tumor on the intestines is a surgery t=
hat she has done before successfully but the recovery could be complicated.=
The reattaching of two pieces of intestine may not always heal properly a=
nd that could be fatal. The scar tissue or lymphnode is a less risky surger=
y. She also said that if it were on the intestine she could just biopsy it =
to see what it is and leave it. She mentioned this option because I not sur=
e if I want Lenny to go through a risky surgery when he is so happy now. Ha=
s this happened to anyone else or does anyone have any opinions on what my =
vet has said. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks once again,
Roseann & Lenny
