My youngest ferret, Peter Carlos, is 2 1/2. When we got him at 15 weeks (a rescue) he was a dark sable who resembled my ferret Toby. Then at 8 months he suddenly lightened up to more of a silver color, even his mask. Now, this past month, he is "going dark" again. I assume that ferrets will do this (Tally gets alot darker in the winter) but what causes them to?
