Hello everyone!
I hope someone out there can help me. My name is Carol and I live in the UK=
. 18 days ago one of my little girls, Buffy, developed what looked like a b=
ad ear infection. There was a brown waxy discharge from one of her ears, =
she was tilting her head to that side, and walking round in circles. I too=
k her to the vet the same day but he said she hadn't got an ear infection b=
ut possibly an inner ear infection (which he said he'd not seen before in f=
errets)or neurological damage, possibly caused by Aleutian Disease. I'm fa=
irly sure that this can't be the case because in every other respect she is=
healthy, eating, drinking and going to the toilet ok. She was prescribed =
Baytril for 10 days, but there was no real improvement so I took her to ano=
ther vet for a second oppinion. She too believed it to be an inner ear inf=
ection, and prescribed Synulox, which she has been taking for 4 days with n=
o improvement. Yesterday I found one of my other girls, Bianca, to be suff=
ering the same symptoms, but otherwise healthy. I'm taking her to the vet =
tommorrow. The two girls don't come into contact with each other, but both=
use the same playroom. Can this be a coincidence, or could there be somet=
hing contageous causing these symptoms? I am desperate to find an answer, =
because I have 33 ferrets, and I am very worried.

Thanks, Carol
