Hi, I am new to this group. I have found this to be a great resource for information about ferret illnesses and treatments.
I have 5 ferrets.[9 yrs., 2.5 yrs., almost 1 yr., 5 months and 7 weeks--all males]
My 2 youngest are both deaf.[1 by birth defect to spine, the other genetic]
My oldest has unsulinoma and adrenal disease, he was diagnosed 18 months ago. He has been on Prednisone since his diagnosis.
At that time my Vet gave him a few months to live.
We have cared for him with love and kindness, a healthy diet and his meds.
He is looking very old and tired and I am beginning to wonder about his quality of life, and when is it time for me to do 'the humane thing' and let him go?
He is very sweet, but you can see he is tired and old and perhaps suffering.[He NEVER complains!]
I just don't want him to be suffering and for me to prolong that suffering because I can't bear to put him down.
Suggestions are most welcome
Thanks so much,
Sharon
