Thank you for your replies.
I found out after I sent off the email that these
ferrets are/were at least 5 years old. I understand
that they live an average of 5 to 7.
The eye glued shut: that eye has not produced any
other fluid or anything else. In fact, it is now, 6
hours after discovery, opening and closing about like
normal and we haven't washed it in the past hour or
so.
Good news in this department: she did pass stool, it
was liquid and black and boy did it stink! It appeared
to be from ferretone. From the consistancy and color
and smell, she is digesting and processing at least
some of it. I had to wash her afterwards. During this
time, I looked again at her stomach and the only thing
I could find in a similar location to a suspected lump
was indeed the bottom of her ribcage. No lump. She
even got perky enough before passing stool to be
determined to get down from my fiancee's lap three
times.
There have been no additions and we have not been
around other ferrets, or for that matter, anyone who
has been near ferrets. We know this for a fact
(because we spend all of our "non-home time" at a
college campus.)
She is taking water, but in small amounts. Today, she
has only taken 4 cap-fulls (caps from two liter
bottles). She is not interested in any kind of food,
and sometimes turns her head away from water after
sniffing it.
I will be going to wal-mart immediately to get some
baby food.
She's also still taking ferretone.
I've tried to contact the vet again it just rings.
Being an emergency animal hospital, I can't help but
wonder if it the phone is out somewhere in the middle.
I will be keeping a close eye on her, I'll be missing
work, but that's okay if she makes it.
