Hi! Just joined this group, and have a very serious question concerning my =
6yo fert, Bear. I've never had to put an animal to sleep, but think it may =
be time to do so, and this is the hardest decision I've ever had, so I need=
a little advice.
Bear is almost 6yo, and has had adrenal surgery about a year and a half ago=
, and surgery for insulinoma this past January. He's now on 1.4mL (90 CMPD =
- 10mg/ml susp) of diazoxide three times a day, and .5mL (30 CMPD - 3mg/cc =
susp) of Prednisone twice a day. If I'm late giving the meds by anytime ove=
r an hour, he goes into a fit of nausea, heavy breathing, foams at the mout=
h and becomes a zoned out limp rag. (I've been very good about this, and ha=
ve changed my entire life, although the last attack Saturday night has me a=
lmost decided to do this). He's losing some hair, again, and licks his bell=
y seemingly more than usual. He's playful for about fifteen minutes at a ti=
me, then needs to sleep. He sometimes shivers when I pick him up (although =
I discount those times when I have awoken him). His head bobs often when he=
tries to pick it up after resting, and he's become more vocal with "meeps"=
most of the time when I pat him. On the flip side, when he plays, he play=
s hard. It's those moments that make me feel that by putting him to sleep,=
I would be cutting his life short. What do you all think? Please, any advi=
ce would be more than welcome. Thank you!
-Mike
