Chloramphenicol is being used 25-50mg/mg po q12 for 14 days. HCL salt is
bitter, Palmitate is not but the dose should be corrected x1.7 for
Palmitate. Let your Vet call us with prescription for accurate dose. You
will get medication with calibrated oral syringe to give the exact dose.

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could answer a question regarding Chlor Palmitate?

I am wondering if anyone has used Chlor Palmitate, and if so, what the
standard dosage would be for a 1.5 lbs. ferret who would take this
medication twice/day?

Background - One of my ferrets, fifi, recently came down with something and
has ceased to eat or drink. My regular "ferret vet" is on vacation for
another week and I finally decided to take fifi to the local vet in town
(They said that they treated ferrets). The vet prescribed Chlor Palmitate
and said "give one dropper, twice/day". Unfortunately, the dropper is not
calibrated, nor does it fill "all the way up", so I am not sure if I give
the ferret 1/2 a dropper (the amount that it fills), or should I give her
that volume 2x. The vet was a bit uncertain regarding the dosage and the
duration for this medication so I am afraid to call back to clarify this
issue.

Thanks for your time and advice!
