The warning is on any product that contains steroids ( the prednisilone
in this case), in long tern steroid use it suppresses the
hypothalmic-pit. axis,
so the body stops producing it since it is there ( why most steroids are
tapered if given over longer than a week in humans). It is pretty
unlikely in topical
steroids, but some gets absorbed. Since ferrets are pretty
steroid resistant to even the oral steroids, I doubt that is a problem.
However, I don't like the idea of using steroids in general where you
have an infection, but it can really help if there is a lot of
inflammation.
I like ivermectin for earmites, use it once then once again in 2 weeks,
wash all bedding both times.

I am sure there are a few different treatment options though.
