(I guess you figured out that this topic is also of interest to me; that's partly because of the lack of information on it till now in the Archives.)

This reply is from Dr. Jerry Murray:

Hi Sukie and Meg,
Yes, a psuedomonas infection is a serious and possible
fatal bacterial infection. By the sounds of it, the ferret has
both an upper respiratory infection and a lower respiratory
infection (ie pnuemonia).
The Baytril dose seems too low! With Psuedomanas infections
you want to go with a high dose (10mg/kg twice a day or 20mg/kg
once a day), which would mean 1/2 tab twice a day or 1 tab once
a day instead of just a 1/4 tab. The injectable Baytril can also be
used orally instead of the tablets, and it can also be
dropped into the nose 2-3 times a day to help with the nasal
congestion. SQ or IV fluids may also be needed. Plus a/d or
baby food can be used along with the regular food.
Psuedomonas infections have to be treated aggressively.
Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM
