For Sukie or others who may know:

I have a male ferret approx. 3 years old that my vet is treating for diarrh=
ea =

and hind leg weakness.=A0 He has exhibited no periods of stupor or drooling=
=

like I would expect to see with insulinoma. On March 27 he checked his =

glucose, which was 62, non-fasting, which he said was borderline low.=A0 Hi=
s =

spleen was not enlarged and he felt no nodules. Bacteria in his stool was =

slightly positive, blood negative, so he put him on Amoxicllin and Flagyl.=A0=
=

He seemed to improve, but once the med was stopped, his problems were back.=
=A0 =

He then started him on prednisone, 1/2 mg. daily for 1 week and then =

everyother day and Nutrical, which is what he's on now, in addition to the =
=

Amoxi-Flagyl.=A0 His perkiness is back, but he still has runny stools and h=
as =

begun to have the weakness in his hind legs, which I think may be due to th=
e =

diarrhea not leaving him with any nutrients.=A0 I used to work for an inter=
nal =

medicine physician, and I remember what she used to say regarding diarrhea =
=

and subsequent weakness, especially over an extended period of time.=A0 My =
=

question is this:=A0 Is it okay to give Kaopectate to try to control the =

diarrhea?=A0 If so, how much?=A0 He's down to just bones almost!=A0 His app=
etite is =

good, and he loves his Gerber chicken or his Iams.=A0 So, there's no proble=
m =

there.=A0 I would appreciate your advice.

Thanks!
