Samson (8.5yo male) was diagnosed with insulinoma about a year ago. He did well on prednizone(sp) untill just recently. My vet tells me that because of his age, he would not recommend an operation to remove it and suggests that I put Samson to sleep (I really hate that term).

Dear John:

One thing that we often say on this group is not to judge surgical candidacy by chronological age. If insulinoma is the only problem that Samson has, then perhaps surgery isn't totally out of the question. I've seen very sick 2 year olds that I wouldn't dream of cutting, and nine-year olds that sailed through. Sometimes you can sleep better at night knowing you pulled out all the stops....

With kindest regards,
