I have a spayed jill, Willow, who is not even 2 years old and displaying
symptoms of adrenal disease. Thing is I felt a hard lump near her bladder
and have recently thought of the possibility of a stump pyometra? Willow
has had x-rays, blood tests and ultrasound. The lump near her bladder was
dark on the ultrasound, suggesting it is fluid filled or possibly filled
with pus? So I have been reading the ferret vet books and read that with
stump pyometra there can be a palatable enlarged mass in the caudal abdomen.
I tried to find out where the caudal abdomen is but couldn't find any
drawing or anything. Is the caudal abdomen at the very bottom where the
bladder is? Is a stump pyometra a possibility? Willow has a strong body
odour and very thin coat on her back and sides. She is thin on her ribs and
has a big tummy. She shows signs of abdominal pain, looks in pain only to
be back to normal within half an hour when she's out. I read that she could
have adrenal disease *and* stump pyometra. Exploratory surgery is next on
the list but Willow has another problem...

She had an x-ray 3 months ago. Back then her heart was 2 1/2 ribs "long",
now, 3 months later, it is 3 ribs "long". She has been congested since her
spay but it's got worse this year. The fluid in her chest doesn't seem to
bother her but now she is on diuretics and Enacard. The area around her
lungs doesn't look good but I can't remember what my vet said.

Not even 2 years old and so many problems? Of course she happens to be my
favourite ferret, one who decided to bond with me very, very much and I love
her to bits and am so scared to loose her...
