Are you sure that it is ECE? I noticed that you have a UK address, but I have not heard of ECE in Britain before (though I have not read anything intensive on it recently) and the ferret population there is so naive to it that I would expect it to really sweep through animals which had not been exposed before without very careful meansures to reduce contagion. You say, "two of my ferrets" which would indicate that you have more. Has ECE been there before and I didn't know about it so the remaining ferrets had already been exposed and therefore have built up an immunity, or have those two been kept separate from the ones who aren't sick with careful quarantining procedures? Does your vet consider it to be ECE? There are so many things called by initials that I know I've caught myself sometimes saying the wrong combination.

Here is the URL of a truly outstanding article on ECE by the veterinary pathologist, Dr. Bruce Williams who first found it's causitive organism. There are some bilogical photos attached and some can upset some readers.
