Callie is a 7 year old who had adrenal surgery for her left gland 4 years ago. At the time she had an insulinoma removed as well. She's been healthy since except for one Upper Respiratory infection about 18 months ago.
A month ago she was having trouble breathing and weakness in her back legs. We rushed her to the vet and she had lungs that were almost totally filled with fluid. The X ray showed so much fluid that her heart wasn't even visible. Her Glucose was quite low at 47. She was given daily shots of lasix for a week and now receives the shots every other day. (.2 cc). She was also given 10 days of Baytril. She's currently taking 1/2 of a tab of prednisone twice a day.
Friday we were back for a re-check and her glucose is a nice 91 and her lungs are clear. BUT she has HUGE nodes on both sides of her neck right below her ears. They are so big she can't be scruffed, because there is no loose skin. These came up all at once.
We're discussing trying another round of Baytril and I'm hopping to get some opinions here on the baytril and other possible treatments and causes other than the dreaded lymphoma. Could the lasix shots have possible bothered the glands (she got them in the scruff area)? Would it be better to wait and see if they go down or try something right away? I'm wondering if its lymphoma shouldn't the pred shrinking the glands rather than have them explode all at once? She doesn't seem uncomfortable and is eating well and more active since the pred was added. Thanks for reading all of this and all of the questions I have.
