Subject: Big Red Bumpy & Ugly Growth

I found a nasty looking red bumpy looking sack-like growth on of my ferret's front legs. When I took him to the vet yesterday, I was told it was wart. I thought I remembered seeing something to the contrary on this group - but the archives are "unavailable at this time". He is going back in to have the "wart" removed, but would anyone suggest it be considered something else. (I know a picture would be helpful but my camera is not working - think of a pourous texture, like a dog's nose, only red, lumpy and ugly).
