I wrote recently about my ferret who had half of his tail removed due to a =
chordoma. Perhaps I am super paranoid from working at a veterinary hospital=
, but it just doesn't seem right. I am pestering the vets with all my calls=
! The day after it was done the area surrounding the amputation was red. Ye=
sterday it was dark red with a teeny bit of blood. Today it is very dark pu=
rple-almost black. I don't see any discharge and it isn't swollen. It is ob=
viously painful because when I tried to hot pack it like my vet suggested h=
e freaked. He is not bothering it at all but it is the perfect lenght to d=
rag on the floor..ouch. I started him on clavamox this morning. With this=
being a holiday weekend, I have no access to a vet until tuesday unless I =
go to the emergency clinic. The charges there are outrageous and I don't wa=
nt to do that unless there truly is something bad going on. By the way, he=
is acting fine otherwise. If the flesh does become necrotic, how long doe=
s that take? What do I watch for? How soon do I need to act? Or am I just o=
verreacting? It's no fun being on this side of the desk at the vet hospital=
:( =
