Hm. That is odd. It seemed behavoral, until you
said it came on all of a sudden.

Could he have an upset tummy? When horses have
colic (yes -- huge leap from horses to ferrets!
:) they dig, paw and sometimes bite their corrals
(or nip at their own flanks).

Could he be reacting to a new smell in the
vicinity of his cage, such as incense, air
freshener, or carpet cleaner?
