If you have linoleum or carpeting on the floors try picking that up and seeing if there may be mold growing underneath to which the ferret objects. We had that happen once many years ago and it really disturbed her. That is just a wild guess because you have me really stumped. You aren't seeing any physical changes in the ferret? No other strange behaviors? How is the ferret urinating and defecating?
