I don't know if anyone is still up but I'm hopping someone will be. we had to take Koda to the animal emergency room around 7:00 today. I found him in the ferret bed with his head tipped back making an odd sort of gasping sound. it looked like he couldn't get any air. when I picked him up he was almost lifeless. I checked to make sure there was nothing blocking his air way and when I found nothing there we ran out of the house with him to the emergency room. the vet there said he was not real good with ferrets but he did give him some sugar water and some sub q's and blood work the blood work has been faxed to or regular vet who we will take Koda to first thing tomorrow. I don't understand anything about blood work but will list the results here so if anyone has any ideas what we are looking at
Glu 60 mg/dl (this is one that caused concern for vet at the emergency room
BUN 21 mg/dl
Na 151mmol/L
K 3.4 mmol/L
Cl 115mmol/L
TCO2 22 mmol/L
AnGap 18mmol/L
Hct 70% PCV (this is one that caused concern for vet at the emergency room
Hb* 24g/dL *via HCT
pH 7.341
PCO2 38.0mmHg
BEecf -5mmol/L
We were told buy the emergency room vet to give him sugar water every hour tonight, until we can get him to the vet tomorrow. Does anyone think we should be doing anything else tonight?
any advice would be welcome!! by the way Koda is up and waliking around now and looks much better but I know with ferrets that can change at any minute
