I have to agree. In fact, posts like this really irk me. We had a
member of the local ferret club who had a ferret who was very active at
age 10 and had no major health problems. When I played with him he was
no different than my much younger ferrets. He did slow down after that,
and passed away at age 11. Folks, six is NOT THAT OLD. It's like 60 in
you or me. How many active 60 year olds do you know?

My Podo had no major health problems at all until he was about seven and
a half. He had a right adrenal surgery at that age, and insulinoma
surgery at almost eight years old. That was last year. He is bouncy,
playful, and loves to wrestle and currently has no symptoms of any
medical problem. Tenchi and Adric are five, and have never been
seriously ill in their lives. I sure don't plan on them having problems
within a year.

OK, I'm off my soapbox. My point, though, is not to give up on treating
ferrets who are six, seven, or even eight for whatever ails them. You
might get several good years together yet.

All the best,
Caity and the non-stop nine
