Subject: Hind End Weakness - how long, when it's near the end?

Does anyone have a sense of how long a ferret, having suffered from several long-term illnesses, typically has left to live when he starts having consistent hind end weakness?

I would like to clarify that there is good medical supervision for this ferret, that blood sugar levels are monitored and are on the low end of normal with medication, and that other appropriate medications are given, etc. Medication adjustment is not likely to alleviate the problem, as we have been doing that for some time, and the hind end weakness seems to be steadily progressing and does not come and go.

I am just somewhat confused as to the causes of hind end weakness when there is no one specific cause, but rather just a cumulation of conditions at an older age.

Thanks in advance for any replies
Melissa
