Hi, Melissa

I'm so sorry to hear about your little dear. I
feel your stress, as just last month, my little
Roy, who had insulinoma, passed on (unassisted).
My vet determined that it was inoperable (too
many tiny seeds) and put him on pediapred. We
started gradually, and eventually got up to 2
cc's, twice a day in warmed baby food.

He suffered ulcerated corneas in the last two
months of his life, which took a great toll on
him. He got such edema from the pred towards the
end, that he couldn't walk too well... coupled
with the hind-end weakness, it was tough on him.
But he always had a loving, sweet personality and
was "himself" until the last couple of days of
his life. He had several seizures in the end.

I guess that would be your barometer... if your
fuzzy's having a lot of seizures, can't / won't
eat, and is sleeping or suffering more than he's
awake and alert. Another indicator for us that
the end was near, was when he couldn't make it to
the litterbox anymore.

We set an appt. to have him put down, and he
passed on shortly before that.

I understand that with surgery, they can do
pretty well with insulinoma.

I'm sure the vets, and those with more experience
than I, can give you some answers too.

Good luck.

Staci
