Hello,
I have a problem that I would greatly appreciate any help with. I took my 5-1/2 MF female in for her distemper shot recently, because of her age I asked the vet if she could test her blood glucose. The vet drew some blood from her neck and used an Accu-Check Advantage glucometer and came up with a 56(5 hour fast). The ferret has never shown any symtoms. The vet referred me on to a more ferret knowledgable vet, because she has never done surgery for insulinoma.
The second vet ran a complete blood work using his veterinarian equipment, and came up with a blood glucose of 108(4 hour fast). Everything else was ok with the blood too. He said that my ferret was healthy. He doesn't know why she tested low with a glucometer, but was positive his test was accurate.
I brought her home and on the next day I used my Freestyle glucometer and got a 72(4 hour fast). I got the blood from the pad on one of her toes.
My guestion is why the discrepancies? And I am at odds as to what to do now.
Again I would greatly appreciate any comments.

Thanks,
Kelly C
