What I do is keep the values and dates and other bits (fasting/not
fasting, behavior at the test time) written down so I can compare them
over time. A range of numbers from one piece of equipment will hopefully
be comparable to each other.... I've found the home glucometers to be
useful for tracking trends and also for showing major problems on either
the extremely high or extremely low end of the spectrum. Since your
ferret isn't showing low blood sugar signs, I wouldn't worry too much just
yet. I'd watch her and grab the occasional blood sugar to see how it
compares.

Might be interesting to take your home glucometer with you to the vet and
compare samples run at the same time. If you get a 100 at the vet's
office on a benchtop analyzer and a 70 on your glucometer at the same
time, and then you have a range of 70's at home with no low blood sugar
sorts of behavior, you'll know not to worry unless numbers or behavior
start changing.

Best wishes,
-Pam S.
