Melissa,
I don't know if this will be of any benefit to you or not, but first I
would have to say it depends on your little one. Baby our first, show
varying amounts of weakness for over a month, and went rapidly down hill
in the last week of her life. Henry on the other hand showed signs of
weakness a little over a week before he left us. The only thing that I
can think of is that it depends on how attached your little one is to
you. Baby with all of her problems, was very much attached to the whole
family, and seemed to have the drive to keep going,
and wanted to be held and cuddled almost right up to the very end. She
slipped away in her sleep sometime during the night. Henry had been
mistreated, and had some real trust issues, and because of this wouldn't
allow much interaction at all. It was only when he became very ill
towards the end, that he wanted to be held and cuddled. He ate and drank
a little in the morning, and by early afternoon had slipped into a coma,
and by late evening he was gone. My heart goes out to you, because it
hurts bad to lose our little ones, and the only encouragement I can give
is treasure every moment, and there is a little comfort in letting your
little one know it's alright for them to give up the fight. Believe me
they know. Kindest regards Rick
