I have a little girl who recently had her second adrenal gland removed and =
she has not perked up at all. I've been reading through past posts and thin=
k she may be experiencing signs of Addison's. (extreme lethargy, dark yello=
w urine indicating dehydration, diarrhea, lack of appetite (refuses to eat =
solid foods)). My vet did not provide any info on this and I was wondering =
if anyone knew of an article that might provide more info on symptoms, ways=
to determine if it is Addison's and treatment options. =
She was a good eater before the surgery and never had any problems eating e=
ven after her first adrenal gland was removed. She was eating within an hou=
r of her first surgery. At that time, the vet told me that she recovered mo=
re quickly than any ferret they'd seen. She is currently on pred 2x per day=
so if it is Addison's, it sounds like maybe I need to explore getting her =
Florinef or Percortin. My vet has been providing antibiotics for the diarr=
hea as though it is a bacterial infection but after 3 different antibiotics=
(clavamox, amoxi and another I can't remember) I'm beginning to think the =
diarrhea is a symptom as opposed to the main problem. I've been feeding he=
r her regular food softened with water and turkey baby food mixed together =
approx 4 times per day. She does not eat or drink otherwise on her own. She=
was on Bob Church's Chicken gravy for a while but I think the chicken was =
aggravating the diarrhea. Has anyone tried substituting turkey in this rece=
ipe instead? I'm planning on taking her to the vet on Tuesday so I was hopi=
ng to be able to provide suggestions then. Thanks
