Hi, my name is Nayeli and I live in Toronto, Canada. One of my ferrets (of four :-)) has a tumor on his right adrenal, the vet said that is all around the vena cava touching part of his liver. In the middle of the surgery, he called and told us the situation. He stated that usually there is a 50/50 change of his survival through the operation. Upon reading some information on the Internet, it appears that chances vary from 15% to 30% mortality. Who is correct?
Ricky (my darling in question) is a very healthy 3 year old - the leader of the troupe! Never had any other health issues and still has 99% of his hair and the only visible signs of the illness are sexual agression and a little bit of listlessness.
I am looking for any suggestions for the following:
1) Are there any vets in the NE States or in Canada that are known to have good experience in this area?
2) We chose at the time of the surgery to close up, and started Lupron therapy that day while we learn more about the disease to make a more informed decision.
If ANY of you have ANY ideas/comments/suggestions on how we can increase his chances of survival and increase his quality of life, PLEASE respond!
Thank-you in advance for your time.
Nayeli
