Hi,

Our vet, who has a great deal of experience with vena cava ligation, has
a success rate in excess of 95%, probably well in excess. Three of my
ferrets have had that surgery, one of them at age seven and a half. All
came through just fine. All recovered very quickly. I live in North
Carolina, so unless you want to vacation down here I really can't make a
recommendation, but I can tell you that a 50% survival rate translates
to me to "find another vet".

Oh, Podo, the old guy who had the surgery, is bouncing around the living
room right now. Surgery was a year ago.

All the best,
