hello Group...
Alan and I have scheduled Skittles in to have his exploratory surgery this Thursday. He is insulinomic and adrenal (right). I have asked our vet to remove the tumors on the pancreas and IF the right adrenal looks operative then go for it.
My question to you is we are nervous...this will be our first insulinoma surgery and I would like some input from you who may have been through this and let me know the pros and cons. No matter what, we are going through it and know there maybe some consequences but are willing to go through with the surgery to help relieve some discomfort from his symptoms.
To give you more info...he has been on pred (0.5cc's) for about a year and also on lupron for a bit longer (once a month injections).
Energy and everything seems to be fine and since being on pred we have not seen any symptoms. He use to crash on the way to the vet and since pred we have not had an reaction since and this has been every month for every lupron shot!
Otherwise Skittles is 5 years old, eats, sleeps and plays as normal as the rest of the ferts.Health wise he is a good weight and have no general fears of him going under the knife just concerned of a different procedure other then blockage and adrenal. This one is new to us and would like some insight from you to have a better understanding to what to expect or prepare for.
Thank you again I know I can always depend on your support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Chaotic Critter and Bo
