My Ferret Mia (albino, 3 years old) died last night and I am very worried about our other Ferret Niko( also 3 non albino). My girlfriend noticed during the day that she was acting a little lethargic, but we didn't think much of it because she was moving around and was coherent. We just figured she wasn't feeling well. We couldn't find her this morning so we searched all over the house and found her dead under our sofa.

Also last night, before we found Mia's body, our other Ferret Niko was vomiting a clear substance that we think was stomach acids. He seems fine today, but we are really worried. His stool had this same clear substance in it. We are very adamant about keeping our home Ferret proof and we do not let them in current rooms that we know contain chemicals in cabinets. We keep their cage clean, we feed them kitten food and give them FerretVite high calorie vitamin supplement. We know that we care for them in a way that you should care for ferrets and they are not our first Ferrets. We had one that passed on about 4 years ago from lymphoma, but she lived for 7 years before this and we treated her lymphoma for about 8 months before it caught up to her. We also feed her the same regimen that we feed Niko and Mia.

I find it very strange that Mia could just die like this with no real warning. We are going to take Niko to the vet on Monday to make sure he is healthy, but I'm worried. We think he may have found Mia under the sofa as this is a common place for them to go. How do Ferrets respond to situations like this? Mia has been his companion since we got him. He has been sleeping aclot today but he is eating and drinking. He just doesn't seem the same.

I have never dealt with a Ferret losing it's companion and I know that Ferrets do like to have them. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
