Hi Claire,
At our clinic we also had a problem with Fervac so we switched to Purvac and have had fewer reactions. However, one of my ferrets had a reaction to the purvac, violent vomiting like yours. (She is older and has lymphoma now, so I have been nervous about giving her any vaxs since.) We give an injection of Dexamethisone (sp?) 15 minutes prior to the vax and have seen no further reactions from ferrets with a reaction history.
