Dear Bailey:
Strongly agree with Pam's comments on gastric ulcers and treatment. REgarding the hard lesion on top and back of head, osteomas (benign tumors of bone) are most commonly seen in that spot. An x-ray will likely make this diagnosis for you.
With kindest regards,
Bruce Williams, DVM

Hello all,
Well, it's that time again...time for educating Stephanie about ferret illnesses. Ok, here's the scoop. I was playing with Noodle a little while ago and noticed that he has a noticeable knot on the tip of his tail. Noodle has always had a semi short tail for a ferret, and I have been questioned before about whether something had happened to it...not to my knowledge, and I got him as a kit from a pet store.
So, I guess my question is what should I think of this lump on his tail? Is this something serious that requires immediate removal? Should I continue to monitor it to see if it grows in size? I'm so intimidated all of the sudden because it seems like all these illnesses are popping up for me and my boyfriend, and while we're experience in ferret care, we haven't really experienced ferret illnesses before.
Stephanie
