Oh, I missed the dooking part!
It has been my experience that ferrets will often dook a lot in new
situations, such as when they are introduced to a new home or when a
new animal is added to the group, etc. Then they quiet down as things
become more familiar. I wouldn't worry about him being quiet. Most
ferrets aren't normally very talkative.
