Hi,

Some other factors to consider before allowing ferret math to strike:

1) Ferrets are EXPENSIVE. A typical ferret will have at least one major
issue in their lifetime requiring surgery, and costs can be upwards of
$1000. Can you afford that? Can you have the money put aside just in
case? Sure, some ferrets NEVER have health problems. My Pertwee, who
is the other extreme, costs me $100 a month in medicine on average, and
his total health care costs, including three major surgeries, are in
excess of $7,000 in five years of life.

2) Ferrets bond to their owners, but also very strongly to one another.
If you have two and one dies it is VERY likely that the other will
become depressed and may well develop serious problems as a result. I
don't know what the ideal number for a multi-ferret household is, but I
do know that it is at least three.

Ferrets playing and romping together are great fun. Just make sure you
know what you are getting into and can take on the responsibilities
involved.

All the best,
Caity and the notorious nine
